Chinese Embassy in TT Holds Event Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the Birth of Madam Dai Ailian

On May 9, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Trinidad and Tobago, together with the Couva-Tabaquite-Talparo Regional Corporation and the Dai Ailian Foundation, jointly held an event commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birth of Madam Dai Ailian. Mr. Yang Han, Counsellor of the Embassy, Councillor Ryan Rampersad, Chairman of the Regional Corporation, Mr. Damian Richardson, Director of Culture of the Ministry of Culture and Community Development, Mr. Adrian Isaac, Chairman of the Foundation, and nearly 100 representatives from various sectors attended the event.



Mr. Yang highly praised Madam Dai Ailian’s artistic achievements and her outstanding contributions to Chinese and world dance. He commended her as a pioneer of cultural exchanges between China and Trinidad and Tobago, and noted that this year marks an important year for cultural cooperation between the two countries. The Embassy stands ready to take the commemoration of the 110th anniversary of Madam Dai Ailian’s birth and the celebration of the 220th anniversary of Chinese arrival in Trinidad and Tobago as opportunities to carry forward the friendship between the two countries, deepen practical cooperation, and promote bilateral relations to a new level.



Councillor Rampersad and other speakers spoke highly of Madam Dai Ailian’s major contributions to people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, expressing willingness to carry forward her spirit of promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and continue writing new chapters in the friendship between China and Trinidad and Tobago.


A photo exhibition on the life of Madam Dai Ailian was also held during the event.
