On 27 June, H.E. Yan Jiarong, Chinese Ambassador to The Bahamas, visited the International Four Winds Martial Arts Association. Mr. Kino Bowe, president of the association, together with the instructors and students, Li Yunpeng, Head of Political and Press Section, and Lin Zhengqing, Attaché of the Chinese Embassy, participated the event. 

During her remarks, Ambassador Yan introduced the long-standing history of Chinese martial arts. She highlighted that the Chinese character “wu” embodies the profound wisdom of upholding justice, preventing violence and ending conflict. Rooted in benevolence, Chinese martial arts has drawn inspiration from the cultures of ethnic groups in China and achieved further development through exchanges and mutual learning with nations worldwide, serving as a vivid example of harmonious coexistence and inclusiveness. She expressed the hope that martial arts could serve as a bridge to facilitate communication and deepen friendship between the Chinese and Bahamian peoples.

President Kino thanked the Chinese Embassy for its sustained support and assistance to the Association. He said that the association will leverage martial arts to help more Bahamians gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.

Ambassador Yan had a friendly exchange with the instructors and students and enjoyed their impressive performances. The event unfolded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, and was covered by the Bahamas National Television ZNS and other local media.
