On 18 September, Ambassador Ren Hongyan attended the opening ceremony of the cultural‑heritage exhibition marking the 220th anniversary of Chinese arrival in Trinidad and Tobago, held at Mille Fleurs Heritage House, headquarters of the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago. Nearly 100 distinguished guests were present, including Mr. Damian Richardson, Director of Culture representing the Ministry of Culture and Community Development; Mr. Graeme Suite, Chief Executive Officer of the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago; Mr. Franco Siu Chong, President, Chinese Bicentennial Limited; Mr. Cheng Xiang, President of the Chinese General Association; and Dr. Wally Look Lai, renowned historian, academic and author.

Ambassador Ren had cordial exchanges with attendees. He spoke highly of the outstanding contributions made by ethnic Chinese communities to Trinidad and Tobago’s socio‑economic progress and China‑Trinidad and Tobago friendship. He encouraged local Chinese compatriots to carry forward fine traditions, act as promoters, builders and contributors to bilateral friendship in the new era, and help elevate China‑Trinidad and Tobago relations to new heights from a new historical starting point.

Jointly hosted by the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago and Chinese Bicentennial Limited, and co‑organised by the Chinese Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago, the event runs under the theme “From China to T&T: Our Heritage Story”. It opened to the general public on 19 September.
